Troubleshooting for FILERECOVERY®

Troubleshooting

Problem: The scanning did complete and files were found, but after saving them, they cannot be read.

Solution: If your file does not open in one application, try another application that can read the file. If it does not open anywhere, your file could not be recovered successfully because the information where the data of the file is stored is lost, or more likely, the data was already overwritten by another, newer file on your computer. Unfortunately, there is no solution to this.

Problem: The scan completed, but your deleted file was not found.

Solution: Make sure that you have chosen the right scan type. A lost file scan will only find files if there are fragments of the file system on the disk. If the logical disk damages are too high, your file may not be found. If this is the case, try a deleted scan. The deleted scan cannot recover original file names on Mac OS X file systems (HFS+), so it may be more difficult to find your files in the result list.

Problem: The external hard disk is not shown in the disk list.

Solution: Several things may help.
     - Check all cables and connections.

     - Install the latest drivers for your external media.
