Configuring Intelli-SMART
When you launch Intelli-SMART for the first time, the default configuration is set to the most common settings for testing, and only pop-up notification for faults. This configuration can be changed by clicking the Options icon in the tool bar. Scroll down to see how to configure each area of Intelli-SMART. If you are unsure of the affect your changes will make, please contact Technical Support and we can assist you. |

The Options screen will allow you to change the method of alerts, the behavior of the tests and logging, as well as the various parameters for both Drives and Volumes on your system. The alerting feature allows for several different alerts to be issued, either separately or together, according to the users preferences and hardware. You can configure the alerting in the Alerters section of the Options screen. The available choices are Email, Display a Pop-Up Message, Play a Sound, or Flash the System Tray Icon. |

E-Mail Alerts: You will also need your e-mail address and the address you wish to send the alerts to. Once you have this information you can configure the mail alerting by filling in the required fields. |

Pop-Up Alerts: The local alerting feature of Intelli-SMART allows the user or Administrator to notify the local user of a SMART error. The local notification can be used alone or in conjunction with the e-mail alerting features. NOTE: Since SMART is a predictive analysis of impending failure and the drive is most likely functioning at the time of the logged SMART error, Administrators may find it useful to disable local alerting to avoid unnecessary Help Desk Calls or to avoid an unnecessary work stoppage, but remember, DO NOT TAKE THE ALERT LIGHTLY, remove the drive from service and replace it as soon as possible. |

Sound Alerts: The local alerting feature also allows for several different alerts to be issued, either separately or together, according to the users preferences and hardware. You can configure local sound alerting in the Sound section of the Alerter configuration. |

Configuring the Appearance |

This screen will allow you to choose the default language for Intelli-SMART, and the behavior of the Exit and Minimize buttons on the software. | ||

Configuring the Behavior |

Automated Self-Tests: Intelli-SMART can be configured to run automated self tests on the drives to run each time the screen saver comes on - usually this means the system is idle. It can also be configured to run self tests at a given time interval. |
||
|
||
Logging Configuration: Intelli-SMART logs can be configured to keep data for a given time, and to keep a maximum number of entries. In either case, the more data kept, the bigger the log file, so be aware of the location of the log file and the amount of free disk space on that drive. |
